The rain was past due, the heat overbearing in the small clearing even hours after the sun goes down. The thunder rolled like the drums of the forest, Lightning flashed across the horizon and nature waited in gasping suspense. But no rain came, Abigale longed for it to come and bust this brooding hush, though she knew that it has to make her forest home damp and depressing, this anxious waiting for something to occur was driving her insane.

I am completely hooked on this series! It comes in short installments every couple of weeks and I can’t wait for each one to come out. This entire series is super well-written and I feel myself transported back in time to Africa, even though this is actually a fantasy story. But the descriptions and the way the characters talk is just so well done.I love Abigale. She’s such a strong heroine and I don’t think I’ve ever come across a bolder one in YA fiction. In this episode, death comes into their lives, but not everything is as it seems. The action and twists made this one impossible to put down at all. I don’t give spoilers in my reviews, so you’ll have to read the book to find out. Which I suggest you do, starting with Book 1 in this series, to get the full story.
